EMMA DARK interviews up and coming scream queen Jessica Ann Bonner
Jessica Ann Bonner is a relatively new actress on the British film scene but with 12 acting credits to her name already over the past couple of years she’s fast moving forward.
Jessica, you’re a trained actress and dancer. It takes a lot of drive and determination to ‘make it’ in the entertainment world. What do you think it is about acting that has pulled you onto this career path?
Blood, sweat and tears! Quite literally in my case! I love it, I honestly love pushing myself to do something different, to play a different role. Mentally and physically. I get a sick satisfaction out of knowing I’ve pushed myself to breaking point!
Most of your roles have been for independent British horror films, are you a horror fan and what is is about horror as a genre that sparks interest for you?
I LOVE horror! I’m a big horror fan, so having the chance to be able to run around screaming, covered in blood is amazing! I’ve been electrocuted, burnt at the stake, stabbed, bitten, made zombie, had my face ripped off and I’ve even killed Santa. Its a horror fans playground.
Out of all the films you’ve starred in what was your favourite role and why?
Oooh tough question! Well I love doing my own stunts so I think I will have to choose ‘Lee Adams’ from the Undead. I had to run through the woods in the freezing cold throwing myself into trees, falling over and having (Director) Dan Brownlie’s hands shoved down my throat to get the ‘face ripping’ shot. He worked me so hard I even vomited! I loved it!
What was the funniest moment on set for you?
Definitely has to be on set of ‘Christmas Slay’, Dani Thompson and I had a break and decided to go exploring. We broke into a creepy abandoned school to explore, we ended up hearing a growl and run out screaming, the best thing was our sound guy caught the entire thing on film!
Out of all the actors / actresses you’ve worked with who has inspired you the most and why?
I have to say Jason Mews, I was lucky enough to work with him on ‘Devils Tower’ he is an absolute lunatic, however a genius comic actor and I learnt an awful lot about comic timing!
What are you working on now Jessica and what’s next for you?
I’m currently working on a feature in pre production called ‘The Tombs: Rise of the Damned’ a horror set in the famous London Tombs and directed by the fantastic Dan Brownlie. Following that I’m working on ‘Lakewood’ a psychological thriller set in Canada and I’m very fortunate to be playing the lead Emily.
Finally where do you want to see yourself in the next five years?
Master of the universe. Thank you Jessica!
