John H Shelton is a Vlogger, Blogger and Indie Film Director from Nottingham in the UK. When he is not Vlogging through YouTube as MrSheltonTV he is writing, producing and directing his own Indie productions including the acclaimed short art horror film, Avant Macabre. John has ventured into the world of the supernatural and has asked friends and fellow film makers and actors if they believe in ghosts with his latest production. ANN MASSEY MCELROY takes a look.
The thing with any of John H Shelton’s work is that it is honest, original and from the heart, so I didn’t expect this to be any different and I wasn’t let down. Filmed either around his hometown of Nottingham or through online video submissions, it is made up of individual experiences of the paranormal.
The video submissions from both the US and the UK are interesting and very natural. Similarly, John’s filmed pieces out and about in Nottingham are unscripted and he allows his interview subjects to run freely, getting the best out of them.
For me the highlight was the interview with the landlord of one of England’s oldest pubs ‘Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem’. Spooky stories and even a cursed Galleon situated in the pub and handed down from landlord to landlord got my attention.
John’s trademark inserts and changes of filters give the piece an edgy indie vibe, preventing it from becoming a run of the mill ghost documentary. This isn’t a polished, Hollywood scripted production and nor should it be, no sensationalizing here.
It’s raw, honest and gives voice to paranormal experiences that would otherwise not be heard.
So if you enjoy hearing other people tell their ghostly tales under the direction of an open minded individual this is definitely one for you!
