The Curious Tale Of The A70 UFO Incident 1

In the fascinating world of ufology, there are many unexplained incidents that have captivated – and often terrified.

One such curious encounter would become known as the A70 UFO incident, which occurred in Scotland in 1990.

The event would go down in the annals of ufology as one of the most perplexing close encounters to ever occur in Britain.

The A70 UFO Incident

On 17 August 1990, two forestry workers, Gary Wood and Colin Wright, were driving home from work after completing their night shift at the Livingston Development Corporation.

As they were driving along the A70 road near the town of Tarbrax, South Lanarkshire, they noticed a strange object in the sky. At first, they thought it was a helicopter or a military aircraft. Yet, as they got closer, they realized it was something completely different.

According to both witnesses, the object was about 20-30 feet in diameter and was hovering about 10 feet above the ground. It was described as being of a dark metallic colour and had a dome-shaped top. It was emitting a bright white light that illuminated the surrounding area. What was more intriguing still was the strange humming noise coming from the object.

As the two men approached the object, they suddenly felt an intense heat and became suddenly, disoriented. They also reported feeling an electric shock running through their bodies. In a state of total fear, the men attempted to run away from the object, but they were quickly overcome by a feeling of paralysis.

If that wasn’t terrifying enough, Wood and Wright then claim to have been taken onboard the object by what they described as humanoid beings, each being up to five feet tall and having large, black eyes.

The witnesses claimed that they were subjected to a medical examination and that they were able to communicate with the beings telepathically. They also claimed that they were able to see images of Earth being destroyed and the beings were trying to warn them of the impending disaster.

After what seemed like several hours, the witnesses were released by the beings and found themselves back on the road. They quickly drove away from the scene and reported the incident to the police.

The Subsequent Investigation

The police arrived at the scene and found physical evidence consistent with the witnesses’ accounts. They discovered marks on the ground and trees that suggested something had landed and taken off from the area. They also found burn marks on the grass and branches that appeared to have been caused by a heat source.

The police soon conducted in-depth interviews with both witnesses and found them to be credible as well as sober at the time of the incident, ruling out the possibility of drug or alcohol-induced hallucinations.

The police also conducted lie detector tests on the witnesses to verify the truthfulness of their claims. Both men passed.

Following the police investigation, the case was taken over by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and classified as an Unexplained Aerial Phenomenon (UAP). The MoD conducted its own investigation into the incident but was unable to find any conclusive evidence to support the witnesses’ claims.

The governmental department released a statement regarding the investigation, stating that “it was not possible to offer any explanation of the reported sighting” and that “no further action was taken by the MoD regarding this incident“.

The Skeptics

Sceptics have offered a number of alternative explanations for the A70 UFO incident. Some have suggested that the witnesses may have misinterpreted a natural phenomenon, such as a meteor or a weather balloon, as a UFO.

Others have suggested that the witnesses may have been the victims of a hoax or a prank, possibly perpetrated by someone with access to advanced technology or special effects equipment.

Still others have suggested that the witnesses may have been suffering from sleep deprivation, hallucinations, or other psychological factors that could have influenced their perception of events.

Despite these alternative explanations, the fact remains that the A70 UFO incident has been thoroughly investigated by the police and the MoD, and no definitive explanation has been found to account for the physical evidence and witness testimony.

The Legacy Of The A70 UFO Mystery

The A70 UFO incident has become one of the most well-known and documented UFO incidents in Britain. It has been the subject of numerous documentaries, books, and articles, and has sparked debate and speculation among ufologists and skeptics alike.

Despite the lack of conclusive evidence, the A70 UFO incident remains a fascinating and intriguing mystery. It serves as a reminder that we still have much to learn about the world around us and that there may be phenomena that out there far beyond our current understanding.
